The National Awards exhibit the work of the candidates for Photographer of the Year. On this occasion, the work of the following photographers was showcased:
Antonio Damián Gallego For Antonio Damián, photography is not simply about learning technique—though this is essential for successfully capturing what you intend to photograph. The most important thing, however, is understanding the secret of light, the emotion it conveys on a face or in a real-life scene. He has published six photography books and has received 78 awards in international, national, and other competitions, including 24 first prizes.
Juan Laguna Jiménez Juan Laguna is a perfectionist by nature. He enjoys mastering both photographic techniques and the creative tools offered by various software programs. Over the years, he has conducted workshops and talks in different photography groups on diverse topics such as “HDR,” composition, image enhancement workflows, various editing programs, and more. He has also served on judging panels in local, national, and international competitions. Juan has held photographic exhibitions and received countless awards, among which the “Catalonia Photography Award 2022” stands out.
Rodrigo Nuñez Buj Rodrigo defines himself as a true lover of landscape and nature photography. However, he also explores other genres, such as architectural photography, bird photography, and more recently, creative photography focused on abstraction and impressionism. Rodrigo has obtained numerous photography awards in recent years, with notable recognition for his three blue pins in various competitions throughout 2023. In 2022, he published his first book: *La Indecisa Mar*, which brings together photography, literature, and music across 256 pages.
Joan Gil Raga Winner of the National Award for Best Nature Photographer 2024. In 2002, while living in Alcanar near the Ebro Delta, Joan discovered digiscoping and quickly developed a passion for nature photography—primarily of birds, although he does not neglect other photography styles.
In the field of digiscoping, he was the first in Spain to publish photos taken with an SLR camera attached to a telescope. He has won hundreds of awards, and among his most prestigious distinctions are EFIAP/d3 and Platinum Master CEF. Pablo Ntutumu Winner of the National Award for Best Photojournalist 2024. For Pablo, photography is his greatest passion and a way to communicate and express what he feels and perceives through images. Taking photographs is, for him, a way to enjoy, to share, and to free his mind from the pressures of the harsh and stressful society we live in today. He has received many local, national, and international awards.
