The Photographic Association of Dum Dum (PAD) is a voluntary organisation working to advance photography and promote international understanding. Founded in 1957, PAD became a registered trust under the Indian Trust Act, 1888 in December 2022. Over the decades, PAD has organised 67 International Photo Exhibitions, 13 International Photographic Conferences (the only such series in India), 12 All India Seminars, 19 workshops, and more than 60 local exhibitions. All these activities aim to promote photographic education and global fellowship through the art of photography. PAD is a pioneer in offering structured photography courses — Certificates, Diplomas, and Post-Diplomas — entirely free of charge. Classes are held at four locations: Dum Dum MotijheelCollege, Kishore Bharati School, the Digital Research Unit at Benu Sen Study Centre, and PAD’s own lab and studio at 467/40, Jessore Road, Kolkata.
