Contemplating Time, Ann Francis, Ireland

On Friday, September 4, a talk and audiovisual presentation was held featuring Danilo Mora, Vladimir Cerda, and Roberto Prat, Chilean nature photographers.

Living in Patagonia: Photography and Conservation

It was a conversation with three photographers from the Aysén Region who seek to share how they live and experience nature photography in that territory. They spoke about their motivation to bring together photographers who share an interest in discovering, enjoying, and showcasing the nature of Chilean Patagonia. They also presented photography as a way of observing, connecting with, and gaining a deeper understanding of the place they inhabit, and how their images can help bring visibility to landscapes, species, and also the threats facing the environment where they live. Toward the end of the talk, each photographer shared their own perspective on Patagonia, exploring different aspects of the territory: its changes throughout the seasons, its coasts and landscapes, and some of its most important conservation areas. The idea was to share photographs, experiences, and reflections on how to photograph nature in order to understand it, appreciate it, and contribute to its conservation. This event is part of the series of talks, audiovisual presentations, and exhibitions sponsored by FIAP and, in this case, was also sponsored by FAF (Argentine Federation of Photography) and AFONAP (Patagonian Nature Photography Association).
