El viernes 8 de Mayo se llevó a cabo la charla del fotógrafo colombiano Bernardo Hernández Serra con la presencia de más de 80 asistentes a la charla provenientes de distintos países, como Chile, Honduras, Colombia, República Dominicana, Uruguay y Argentina.
La charla estuvo basada en cómo construir fotografías que realmente funcionen, más allá del género o la técnica mostrando ejemplos de fotografía deportiva, de naturaleza y otros estilos, presentando un sistema práctico basado en la lectura de la escena, la composición, la técnica y la edición, que nos permite crear imágenes con impacto, intención y valor tanto para concursos como para clientes. Más que aprender a tomar fotos, se trata de desarrollar el criterio necesario para decidir qué hace que una imagen destaque, conecte y sea memorable.

Ingeniero Electrónico con experiencia de 23 años en la fotografía. Es entrenador personalizado en temas fotográficos y ha sido asesor, organizador y jurado en varios concursos de fotografía en Colombia y Panamá. Ha participado en múltiples exposiciones colectivas e individuales, y ha sido ganador y finalista en mas de 90 concursos fotográficos a nivel nacional e internacional, entre los que se destacan: National Award Colombia del Sony WPA 2018 y el Latin America National Award del Sony WPA 2022, finalista de varias ediciones del Bird Photographer of the Year(BPOTY) y el Wildlife Photographer of the Year (WPY-NHM), Medalla al Mérito en HIPA 2024 y Mención de Honor en el Concurso Fotográfico de Naturaleza “Las aves silvestres” (FIO) 2024.
Es docente en cursos de Fotografía Básica, Avanzada, de Naturaleza, de Aves y Revelado Digital, y coaching fotográfico. Profesor de Fotografía de Naturaleza de la Universidad de Antioquia. Conferencista virtual y presencial en temas relacionados con concursos de fotografía y de fotografía de Naturaleza. Socio Emérito del Club Fotográfico Medellín y su Presidente en el 2018-2020. Director del Salón Colombiano de Fotografía.

On Friday, May 8, the lecture by Colombian photographer Bernardo Hernández Sierra was held, with the attendance of more than 80 participants from various countries, including Chile, Honduras, Colombia, the Dominican Republic, Uruguay, and Argentina.
The lecture focused on how to create photographs that truly work, regardless of genre or technique. Through examples of sports photography, nature photography, and other styles, Bernardo presented a practical system based on scene interpretation, composition, technique, and editing. This approach enables photographers to create images with impact, purpose, and value, both for competitions and clients. More than simply learning how to take photographs, the goal is to develop the critical judgment needed to understand what makes an image stand out, connect with viewers, and become memorable.
About Bernardo Hernández Sierra (“Berches”)
Bernardo Hernández Sierra is an Electronic Engineer with 23 years of experience in photography. He is a personal photography coach and has served as an advisor, organizer, and judge in several photography competitions in Colombia and Panama.
He has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions and has been a winner or finalist in more than 90 national and international photography competitions. Among his most notable achievements are the National Award Colombia at the Sony World Photography Awards (WPA) 2018, the Latin America National Award at the Sony WPA 2022, finalist placements in several editions of the Bird Photographer of the Year (BPOTY) and the Wildlife Photographer of the Year (WPY–NHM) competitions, a Merit Medal at HIPA 2024, and an Honorable Mention in the “Wild Birds” Nature Photography Competition (FIO) 2024.
He teaches courses in Basic Photography, Advanced Photography, Nature Photography, Bird Photography, Digital Post-Processing, and photographic coaching. He is a Professor of Nature Photography at the University of Antioquia and a speaker, both online and in person, on topics related to photography competitions and nature photography.
Bernardo is an Emeritus Member of the Medellín Photography Club, where he served as President from 2018 to 2020. He is also the Director of the Colombian Photography Salon.
