(FIAP AUSPICES – 2020/040) This year, we were unable to celebrate the 100th anniversary of April 23 National Sovereignty and Children’s Day with the usual collective enthusiasmdue to the Covid-19 pandemic and quarantine conditions. However, even whilestaying at home, we aimed to keep the spirit of this special day alive byencouraging children to decorate their homes and celebrate the holiday togetherwith their family members. We envisioned photographing these preparations—such as Atatürk corners, flags, and paper decorations handmade by the children—as well as the celebrations on the day itself, as lasting memories they couldlook back on in the future. With the support of FIAP (FIAP Auspices), Sille Sanat Sarayı organized a members-only photography competition featuring images that reflect thesespecial days. The event received strong and high-quality participation. Thesubmitted photographs vividly showed how the joy of April 23 was brought intohomes, capturing children in their festive outfits, reciting poems, holding flags, and expressing happiness on their faces. We sincerely thank all our memberswho took part. Each participating member was awarded a digital certificate of participation in appreciation of their contribution. As a keepsake of this meaningful day, ten children were selected by lottery fromamong the participants and presented with the “First Step Photography” three-volume book set. The lottery drawing was conducted by Berat Reha Bilir, theyoungest member of Sille Sanat Sarayı.
